Vehicles in Germany's City Discovered Smeared with Swastikas in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm
Area Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Cars, building surfaces and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a release.
Law enforcement report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a man observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.
The liquid had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Police then located multiple other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations outlawing the public display of Nazi symbols.
Officials state preliminary tests show the substance was most likely human blood.
"At present there remains no lead as to its source; authorities are presently not cognizant of any injuries in connection with the incident," they commented.
Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have requested to the community for tips.
A senior political figure stated the attack rendered him without words and required to be addressed rapidly.
"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on online, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at people of foreign heritage in 2020.
