Two Detentions in the Aftermath of Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident
An additional two individuals are now in custody related to a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals sustained injuries by what is thought to be pepper spray, according to police.
A 24-year-old man, was arrested in Lambeth for suspected theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals are still being held, the force said.
The arrests come after an investigation into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the attack, two women were robbed of their suitcases after getting out of a parking garage elevator.
A three-year-old girl was among the injured in the event. Five people went to hospital for treatment and have since been discharged.
Officers arrested a man in his thirties for suspected theft and assault near the location. He has since been released under investigation while inquiries continue.
Authorities were alerted at approximately 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding several individuals injured by an irritating chemical believed to be an irritant spray.
The assault - an event that police said was isolated and not considered terrorism - caused train delays and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park briefly.
