From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a wide array of characters, and a gripping narrative featuring celestial beings, demons, and sinister influences growing in strength within the city.
Warning: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
Episode 3 ended with a dramatic pause and revealed the premier party of heroes who will branch out from the primary party to begin their own adventure, apart from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team features Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Considering an extensive roster, it was evident from the outset that maintaining everyone at a single group would be impossible.
This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, intertwining the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who prefer a traditionally charged battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might seem out of place, but the developments of episode 3 demonstrate why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the team understands precisely where to go next after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the narrative’s action—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, entering the secret base, attacking the character, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The traitor then settled his debts and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each character has a individual motive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, seeks vengeance.
- The adventurer is familiar with the region and advises that it is a nasty location.
- Tyranny and The healer, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their status as key figures in House Halovar could enable the team access areas they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now follow him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are sought by the rulers that govern the setting for a range of causes, making remaining behind too risky:
- The agile adventurer and The character are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The healer turned against the influential house and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the family.
This leaves them few options but to head to the northern region in pursuit of Casimir.
Future Episodes
From episode three’s follow-up content, we discover that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight cast members to round up the Explorers and Planners groups.
Audiences can anticipate discovering which adventurers will be in which group in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on October 24.
